Suspects in Melvin Rd. attempted home invasion, shooting fled in white vehicle

Jacksonville, FL — As the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office investigates an attempted home invasion-turned-shooting, we’re learning more about the suspects involved.

Police initially announced they were seeking four to five suspects in connection to this incident, which happened late Saturday night on Melvin Road. The newly released incident report says there may have only been three suspects, but the information is still not firm. The suspects are all described as young black men- potentially as young as 15- who were wearing all black and used hoodies to obscure their faces. One of them had short dreadlocks, according to the incident report.

The incident report also reveals that the suspects got in to a white car after the shooting. Police believe it may be a newer model Ford Mustang or Chevy Camaro.

The man who lives in the home says he was opening the door to let his girlfriend in, when the men approached. He says one of the suspects fired, hitting his girlfriend in the arm and back, as she was walking in. The incident report says the man fell to the floor, but held the door closed to prevent the suspects from getting inside.

We’re told the victim’s injuries are not life threatening.
