Jacksonville, FL — Enjoy one more dry, mild day. We’re tracking a powerful storm system that will bring rain as early as the morning rush hour on Thursday, with increasing rainfall and thunderstorms through the afternoon and evening.
Action News Jax Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh says the greatest threat will be heavy rain, but isolated severe storms are possible.
“It looks like we’ll be pretty cloudy and wet from the get-go on Thursday which should limit our instability as to how warm and humid the atmosphere becomes, and therefore will limit our potential for strong storms but it’s not completely off the table”, Buresh said.
Rainfall coverage will be 100% of the area, so plan for wet roads and highways. The storm system will impact much of the east half of the United States, with rain and wet snow in the higher elevations.
