Jacksonville, FL — Tropical Storm Dorian is moving through the Windward Islands with tropical storm-force winds. Action News Jax Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh says the next few days could be key in judging impacts to Florida.
“It’s in an area with a lot of dry air and a fair amount of shear it’s going to have a tough road ahead here, and also some land interaction potentially with either or both Puerto Rico and Hispaniola”, said Buresh.
Then it get into the southwester Bahamas, where conditions are more favorable for strengthening.
“By Saturday the storm should not be too far from the southeastern coast of Florida, potentially to the east of Miami, turning more west and northwestward with time. So that puts Florida perhaps in the cross hairs but still early on what kind of intensity this system might be at”, Buresh said.

Still too early for any detailed impacts for NE FL/SE GA from Dorian over Labor Day Weekend. Higher than normal tides expected this weekend due to New Moon will be worsened by Dorian along with heavy rainfall potential due to expected slow moving "wet" system. #jaxwx #flwx #gawx pic.twitter.com/KIeYxdALYe
