Jacksonville, FL — A man is recovering from injuries after being shot by a driver on U.S. 17 in Fleming Island in what may be a road rage encounter with another driver.
Lanes of U.S. 17 reopened just after 10am, hours after the shooting event.
Deputies had been searching for the driver of a white truck, possibly an F-250 commercial-style truck that may have a red topper. The truck may have damage from a traffic crash. The driver is suspected of shooting at a vehicle on U.S. 17.
Just before 1PM, CCSO confirmed that person had been identified, and is in custody.
One person sustained non-life threatening injuries after being shot in the arm. A second person in the vehicle was not wounded.
“We believe at this point that there was some type of an incident between the two, possibly a traffic crash. We’re working on that right now with the victim obviously receiving medical treatment”, said Deputy Chris Padgett, Public Information Officer.
The subject wanted for questioning, concerning the shooting in Fleming Island, has been ID’d and is currently in the custody of our detectives.
