A 15-year-old and her 11-year-old sister shot and killed their brother Monday night, according to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said Misty "Ariel" Renee Kornegay got a gun from her parent's bedroom and shot her 16-year-old brother while the parents were out of town. Investigators do not think it was an accident and are investigating the incident as a homicide. Detectives also arrested her 11-year-old sister Nicole Kornegay.
They are both charged with premeditated murder and are being held without bond.
WOKV is told it happened in a house on the 1600 block of Sophia Drive in White Springs on Monday evening.
Deputies said the parents were out of town when the murder happened. They're now facing child neglect charges and are being held without bond.
The two sisters and parents are all due in court for a first appearance Wednesday morning. WOKV will have a reporter there and will update the story.
Another child, a three year-old girl, was home during the incident. Deputies say she was not harmed and is now in the custody of the Department of Children and Families.
