Shanila Kabir, Action News Jax


Shanila Kabir joined Action News Jax as a reporter in May 2024. Shanila comes from Honolulu, Hawaii where she reported on volcanic eruptions, shark attacks, and the fatal Maui wildfires. Before making the jump to Hawaii, Shanila worked as a reporter and anchor in Eureka, California. Shanila graduated from New York University with a Master’s in Multimedia Journalism in 2020. During her time in the Big Apple, she interned at CNN Tonight with Don Lemon. She received her Bachelor’s in both Political Science and English from Georgia State University. She is passionate about investigative journalism, specifically anti-human trafficking work. Shanila was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. Before moving across the country for school and work, she was a cheerleader and attained her black belt in American martial arts. When she’s not at work, you can find Shanila at a mall or sitting at the beach. She calls herself a shopaholic and always stays up to date with all the trending fashion. Shanila is excited to be back on the East Coast closer to her family in Georgia and sharing the stories of Jacksonville.
